McKinsey and Company
95% of Advertising/Architecture Firms use the founder/partner’s name
Dreamworks SKG (Spielberg, Katzenberg, Geffen)
Lauren (knew his name is everything, and changed it!)
See a pattern? 5 are not people ( the founders of the company)
So how do you build a you/brand from scratch?
You can hire a consultant and PR firm which costs upwards of $10,000 a mth
In the real world they say it’s one of the hardest things to do.
What’s a brand name if nobody knows you?
So you’re a nobody who needs to be somebody.
Steal from the best and make it into your own. Study their history.
These people were born with a name and leveraged it in the real world.
Now how do you do that? Well I’m a nobody who intends to be somebody.

So Step #1 is deciding you want to be somebody.
Step #2 Pouring yourself into yourself. ie) Go shopping with your Brand Basket to cater to your personality, interests and influences. Even read magazines and stories you wouldn’t usually read. Explore.
Step #3 Solve a problem in a creative way. (Do the opposite* no matter how subtle) *Ralph Lauren made thick ties when slim ties were fashionable.
Step#4: Leverage your distinction and work it. *Ralph Lauren wouldn’t sell his ties to Bloomingdale’s unless they had his name on it. Bloomingdale’s eventually caved, and sold his ties.

That’s the intensity that is necessary for long-term branding
